January 12th

Riders Report summary

*This is an overall summary. The Bighorns are a massive mountain range. Certain areas and elevations may vary greatly.

Previous*significant Storm: 01/12/25

Latest Storm: 01/12/25

Previous Snow Depth: 12-28”

Current Snow Depth: 20-55”

Snow Quality: 7,500-8,500ft received nearly 2.5ft of fresh snow on top of the 2ft they had. Still have to be mindful of stumps and rocks but where it is safe, it is epic. 8,500ft+ has around 50” of snow with 20” of fresh. Base should be good.

Avalanche Observations: Stay off the slopes. Avy danger is extremely high right now. Surface hoar was awful before this last storm with 2.5ft of fresh snow and 50+mph winds.

Backcountry Conditions Rating: Best snow we’ve had in a couple years. Bighorns are back!

Trail Conditions: 10/10. All trails will be groomed after this big snow event.

Report Summary: Our prediction was right. January 12th and on will be great. Backcountry conditions are epic right now and will hopefully stay that way for awhile.

Future Forecast: More snow is on the way, but this is the biggest storm we’ve had in years. Come get it while it’s hot!
