Riders Report summary

*This is an overall summary. The Bighorns are a massive mountain range. Certain areas and elevations may vary greatly. Take this with a grain of salt.

Previous*significant Storm: 04/08

Latest Storm: 04/08

Previous Snow Depth: 7”-44””

Current Snow Depth: 18”-56”

Snow Quality: Somewhat soft, but with a crust layer underneath the fresh.

Avalanche Observations: Everything was cracking. Extremely high avy conditions right now with the weight of new snow and extreme temperature swings.

Backcountry Conditions Rating: B-

Trail Conditions: Grooming has ended for the season.

Report Summary: The storm of the year didn’t quite pan out like we had hoped. Only about 14-18 inches of new snow, which mid-season would be fantastic, but when there is an ice layer underneath it, it kind of takes the fun out of the fresh snow.

Future Forecast: Moisture is in the forecast, there’s still a chance for a big storm to roll in, but will be it be too late? We’ll see. My guess is we’ll see the biggest storm of the year come in May, which has happened before.
