About this Clinic -

This clinic is an early season beginner/intermediate oriented class with 8-10 clients and two instructors. Food, lodging, and the clinic is included in the price. As opposed to last year’s clinic, this year we are partnering with Wyoming High Country Lodge for an all inclusive experience. Our professional instructors will work with you to improve your riding skills. Along with improving your skills, you will have the opportunity to meet new friends, experience the beauty of the Bighorn Mountains, and relax at the very highly reviewed High Country Lodge.

About Wyoming High Country Lodge -

WHCL sits at an elevation of 9,000ft in the Northern Bighorn Mountains. Only accessible by snowmobile in the winter months, WHCL is a well kept secret away from the crowds. Chances are, our clinic may be the only guests at the lodge during this time. Each day, High Country Lodge will provide home cooked breakfasts, to-go lunches, and home cooked dinners for us to enjoy and a hot tub to relax in after a days ride. Wifi is available at the lodge.

Learn how to navigate backcountry terrain with ease.

Join our instructors, Tana Hoffman Cook & Anna Zowada, for a beginner/Intermediate group clinic setting. This will give you a 4-1 ladies to instructor ratio ensuring each of you plenty of time with an instructor.

Determining Skill Levels:

Beginner - will have little to no experience riding a sled in the backcountry (Off Trail). Trail riding is a whole different way to ride a sled. If you’ve only ridden on trails, then you will be a beginner in the backcountry.

Intermediate - Some off trail riding abilities but need to practice more. Understand the basic concepts of using body weight and throttle control.

Experienced - Can get around ok. Might not be doing any cool tricks, but you can get from point A to point B as long as the terrain isn’t too technical or steep.

Advanced - Side hilling, pow turns, getting unstuck by yourself, and small jumps aren’t an issue.

Pro - You have mastered the basics. You are now looking to master the craft of technical maneuvers like tight tree riding, hop-overs, reentries, and jumps.

Tana Hoffman Cook

Tana is a backcountry rider and outdoor-industry professional based in Alpine, Wyoming. She bought her first snowmobile in 2015 after many springs spent sled-snowboarding in Thompson Pass, Alaska, and attributes her progression to living mere miles from the Wyoming backcountry and the supportive community of riders she's met over the years. Tana has previous experience as a ski, snowboard, MTB, and surf instructor—and her passion for mentoring has only grown since founding two women-focused outdoor businesses (Mountainist and ILLA). She's currently supported by TOBE Outerwear and serves as a board member for the Bridger Teton Avalanche Center Foundation.

Anna Zowada

Anna grew up rodeoing and only began riding snowmobiles 4 years ago. Anna caught on quickly while learning how to ride snowmobiles. Today, Anna helps guide clients for Sled Wyo, she actively helps riders improve their skills. She loves to see the smiles on peoples faces when they progress. Anna is a sponsored athlete of 509 & Deviant Ink.

What to Expect

You will be working 1 on 1 with our guides to better understand your snowmobile in the backcountry & deep snow.

You will swap knowledge with fellow lady riders with the type of gear you should carry. From clothing and survival gear, to comforts in the backcountry.

We will work on the following (but not limited to): throttle/brake control, counter-steering, side-hilling, getting unstuck, body coordination, tips, avalanche awareness, reading terrain and so much more. Our guides are avy certified and have their first aid/CPR certificates.
